Over the past five (5) years The Australian meat processing industry has adopted the SEDEX program as a means of ensuring compliance across its supply chain, this enables the industry to demonstrate sound governance practices to global food trading partners. SEDEX is one of the world's leading ethical trade membership organisations, working with businesses to improve working conditions in global supply chains. The program provides an online platform, tools and services to help businesses operate responsibly and sustainably, protecting workers and sourcing ethically.

The course has been designed to address emerging issues identified by the meat processing sector in relation to corporate and social responsibilities (CSR) throughout the supply chain. It allows businesses and those persons fulfilling key roles within businesses to gain further understanding about social compliance responsibilities and people management skills necessary for the role.
